The Vivo V50 has been praised for its slim design, vibrant display, and long-lasting battery, positioning it as a strong contender in the mid-range smartphone market. Released in February 2025, it builds on the Vivo V-series formula in three specific ways — a larger battery, faster charging, and Zeiss optics extended to all three cameras for the first time.

The result is a phone that looks and feels more expensive than its price tag — but with one significant compromise that needs to be addressed before the specs table.

Design and Build

The Vivo V50 features a quad-curved AMOLED display with a 41-degree curvature and ultra-slim bezels measuring 1.86mm. It is available in three color options: Rose Red, Titanium Grey, and Starry Night — with the latter featuring a reflective 3D-star technology pattern exclusive to India.

Despite packing a hefty 6,000mAh battery, the V50 remains impressively slim at 7.39mm — making it one of the thinnest phones in its battery category. That is a genuine engineering achievement. Most phones with 6000mAh batteries sit at 8–9mm.

Durability is another highlight. The V50 boasts IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance — it can withstand high-pressure water jets and submersion.

Display

The Vivo V50 features a 6.77-inch AMOLED screen with 1,080 x 2,392 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports 10-bit color depth and HDR10+ streaming format. It is protected by Diamond Shield Glass made for Vivo by Schott. Official screen specs are 1,300 nits for maximum and 4,500 nits for peak brightness.

One legitimate criticism: the display is a downgrade from the V40 — resolution has gone from 1260p (453ppi) down to 1080p (388ppi). For most users this is invisible in daily use. But if you are upgrading from a V40, you should know about this.

Performance

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is a competent mid-range processor — smooth for everyday tasks, social media, and moderate gaming. The honest limitation: it starts to feel a bit outdated in 2025, especially in a segment where competitors are pushing smartphones with newer silicon.

If gaming performance is your primary requirement, a phone with a Dimensity 8350 or Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset will serve you better at a similar price point.

Camera System

The camera trio remains a 50MP main + 50MP AF ultrawide + 50MP AF selfie. The main camera features a new sensor by OmniVision, while all cameras come with Zeiss optics. The focus remains on the ever-improving Portrait mode photos.

The rear cameras support 4K video recording and multifocal portrait modes at 23mm, 35mm, and 50mm focal lengths, along with seven Zeiss-style bokeh effects. The phone also includes an Aura Light flash with AI 3D Studio Lighting 2.0.

Real-world performance: the main 50MP shooter with OIS and the ultra-wide 50MP do well in good lighting — colors are vivid, details are sharp. Ultra-wide is weaker in darker environments, which is expected for its price class.

Portrait mode is where the V50 genuinely distinguishes itself from mid-range rivals. The Zeiss tuning produces bokeh that looks natural rather than AI-processed.

Battery and Charging

The V50 gets to 40% in just 15 minutes. At the 30-minute mark, the phone is at 71%.

In real-world use, it lasts a full day of heavy usage with gaming, streaming, and photography — and can stretch to two days with moderate use.

Software

Runs Android 15 with Funtouch 15 skin. Vivo promises three years of major OS updates and four years of security patches. It includes AI features such as Google Gemini integration, Circle to Search, Live Call Translation, and AI Transcript Assist.

Pros and Cons

✅ Pros ❌ Cons
6000mAh battery is class-leading Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is dated
7.39mm slim profile Display downgraded from V40 (1080p)
IP69 water resistance No telephoto lens
Zeiss optics on all 3 cameras UFS 2.2 storage (not UFS 3.1+)
90W charging No wireless charging
Excellent portrait mode Pre-installed apps cannot be removed

Verdict

The Vivo V50 is an impressive evolution of the V40 — its slim design, 6000mAh battery, and Zeiss camera system make it a strong choice for those who prioritise style and camera quality. While it may fall short for power users due to the dated Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and lack of a telephoto lens, it is a strong choice for photography-focused buyers in the mid-range segment.

Rating: 8.0/10 — Buy it for the battery, the cameras, and the design. Look elsewhere if raw gaming performance or a telephoto zoom lens are priorities.
